Round and Round We Go

It bothers me that I am taking my daughter to doctors for hair loss and none of them know what the heck is going on.  We were seeing an endocrinologist (think of him as a blood guy) and he ordered blood-work, the same blood work that the pediatrician ordered when we went to see him about this.  It was suggested that we see a dermatologist (skin person) for further investigation.

I will admit that the dermatologist did get her teenage acne cleared up but the hair loss is still a mystery.  The loss is at the temples and her top layer of long hair covers it.  Now, I will also admit that I stretched the truth a bit about us going back to the endocrinologist to the dermatologist (don't try and say that five times fast).  I nodded enthusiastically when the dermatologist asked if the endocrinologist found nothing wrong with the blood test results that she had done.  Everything on those tests were within normal limits.

Because I am TIRED of being passed around on this whole issue.  (the endocrinologist told us to see the dermatologist and the dermatologist told us to go back and see the endocrinologist) HELLO PEOPLE.  There is HAIRLOSS in a teenage girl and someone, somewhere MUST have some sort of explanation for this that isn't shown in blood-work.

So now we are going to see a hair loss specialist, which its about freaking time!  $150.00 in co-payments and we are finally making some progress.

Monday The Love/Hate Edition

I love that it's the start of my vacation week.

I hate that I spent 20 minutes in my doctor's office crying.

I love that it isn't at all unusual feel like my emotions are out of control right now.

I hate that the word "menopause" is being tossed around.

I love that I still have eight whole days off.

I hate my job.  (~waves to boss)

I love that I don't have to think about work all week.

I hate to put my youngest in daycare this week but since I have to pay.

I love the freedom of being home without someone following me around or making a mess.

I hate that it's so hot in the house.

I love that it's warm and sunny outside and appears like that is the forecast for the week.

Sunday Stealing: The Majorly Personal MeMe, Part II

21. If you were to live your life without your best friend, what would change?  Ummm I try NOT to think like that, but I'd say it would be isolating and lonely.

22. Tell us about a era of your life that you really miss.  I miss my twenty's.  Although I love my kids, these days I wish I didn't have so much responsibility.

23. Have you ever been betrayed by someone that came as a complete surprise? Without revealing the person, if yes, tell us about it.  I'm just going to say yes here, it happened to me and I was taken completely by surprise.  Although the signs were there, when I looked back, I just didn't catch on.  I'd get into it, but it's a long story and today is not the day to rehash it.  Sorry.

24. Do you ever think that is a good idea to hide your feelings?  I don't.  But I am 100% guilty of doing it.  Constantly.

25. Tell us about your favorite year when you were a student.  My year at Business School was awesome.

25. When was the last time you were in a very good mood? What caused it?  I haven't been in a very good mood for a long damn time now.  :-(

26. Have you ever had a romantic relationship with a sibling of a good friend?  Nope.

27. Tell us about the last thing that you did that you truly regret.  I probably said something I shouldn't have to one of my kids, these days that is what I regret the most.

28. When did you laughed today?  I am laughing while watching "The Soup", that show is so freaking funny.

29. Do you trust easily?  Not anymore.  I've been burned too many times.  Now I'm jaded.

30. What do you care about that you wish more people would?  Littering.  It drives me crazy to see people throw stuff out their window.

31. Is it easier for you to go without food or go without sleep?  Sleep. I am living proof that I cannot go without eating.  HAHA.

32. What non-alcohol beverage do you enjoy drinking the most?  Coke.  Its the Real Thing.

33. When you walk into a room full of strangers, generally how is your confidence?  Very high.  None of them know me.

34. Does talking about sex with anyone but your lover make you uncomfortable?  Nope.  I will talk sex with anyone who will listen ... just try it.

35. Do you tend to believe members of the opposite sex mostly behave the same way?  No.  I've known men that are really nice and genuine and would do anything for their significant other.  They do exist.

36. Did you drink any alcohol this week? If yes, what?  I don't drink and haven't for years now.

37. Would you ever consider being a vegetarian?  Yes.  But I don't like vegetables ... so therein lies a problem.

38. Do you believe that there’s always room in your heart for someone?  Yes.  But timing is everything.

39. Do you believe in the concept of soul mates?  I do.  But sometimes it just doesn't work out.

40. Last week, we had a few players criticize our victim’s questions. Which is fine to do and we value your opinion. Would you ever consider writing questions for Bud and me to post on a Sunday Stealing?  I might.  If I could come up with interesting questions that haven't already been done.

The sun is out today.
My vacation is imminent.
Tomorrow is Friday.
These are all good things.
Oh yeah!

The Doctor Is "In"

I had a great therapy session last night.  What?  You weren't aware that I was in therapy to begin with?  (and no I am totally NOT crazy, thanks for thinking that loud enough so I could hear you!)
I'm not in therapy.  My son is.  And he has been for a couple of years now.  He is there because I want him there.  I think it's good for him.  The therapist was ready to just let him go ... but saw the anguish in my eyes and I guess took pity on me.  I think the therapist realizes that I am using him ... to help me, in how I raise my son.  I take all those bumps in the road that we have directly to him ... to dissect ... to analyze.  And he does that with my son.  I see it as a two fold benefit.  One, I get to say out loud what I'm afraid of happening or what my concerns are ... and Two, my son gets to hear for himself what I am thinking.  Then we both hear the therapist's view.
I really like it.  This last session was no exception either.  We haven't been all summer and with the whole 8th Grade Graduation "incident" and the Music Night incident (I don't think I wrote about that one, but pretty much the same thing happened as the graduation, only it was his dad's band playing) I need some perspective dammit.
What it comes down to ... is that isn't all about me (What????  Someone didn't get the memo, it is always about ME!).  And that 14-16 year old boys are trying to separate themselves from their family and it comes out in different ways.  So pretty much if he makes a big stink and we want him to go with us to do something he considers boring, HE GOES WITH US.  And don't give in to any tantrum he has.  And if it is reasonably okay for him to be excused or he can bring something that allows him to tune out, that is okay too.
See?  Problem solved.
Now I just need a pocket sized version of the therapist to consult with at any time and I think my life will go much smoother.  Yes?

Not Good But Not Bad Either

Today was a double workday.
And I went with my man to the orthopedist.  The outcome wasn't as bad as I thought.  There was not talk of permanent disability.  There was talk about NOT googling your MRI results because that can be misinterpreted in a whole host of ways.  And there were prescriptions dispensed for pain and reduction of inflammation.  Along with the writing of a note, excusing him from work for another two weeks.
Sound good?  It did to me.
Now we continue to play the waiting game and see if it gets better.

Okay positive right?
This week is all about my being positive.  And not in the "I'm positive we are F*CKED sort of way"  But in the "I'm positive my bum is going to burst with roses and sunshine" this week.
~nods head~
However, it is raining.  I have on long capri's and a sweatshirt that has gotten wet several times today.
So I'm going to quit here.
But before I go, I just want to say, my day?

Sunday Stealing: The Majorly Personal MeMe, Part I

1. Are you happier now than you were five months ago?  Nope.  I think I was definitely happier five months ago.  But that is just how life is sometimes.

2. Have you ever slept in the same bed with anyone that you shouldn't have?  Yes.  But that was so High School.

3. Can you sleep in total darkness?  I prefer to sleep in total darkness.  Doesn't everyone?

4. Your phone is ringing. It’s the person you fell hardest for, the one who got away, what do you say?  Can I have your football shirt back?  I still have the earrings that match it.

5. What do you think about the weather this summer?  I loved the weather this summer.  I don't want it to end.

6. How many people do you trust with everything?  Maybe two.

7. What was the last thing you drank?  Water.  Last night.  Which reminds me I am thirsty.

8. Is there anyone you want to come see you?  No, but I am going to have lunch with two friends from High School today.

9. Name one thing you love about winter?  That its toasty inside the house.

10. Have you ever dated a Goth?  Nope.  One type I didn't have a chance to date I guess.

11. What are you looking forward to tomorrow?  Monday?  Oh hell no.

12. Name something you dislike about the day you’re having?  I have nothing to dislike, I just got up.  I'm still in my PJ's.

15. Has anyone ever told you they never want to ever lose you?  Yes, my man, this week, several times.

16. Is there anybody that you wish you could fix your relationship with?  Sometimes yes, but mostly no (that's all I'm saying on this subject.)

17. Could you go out in public, looking like you do now?  I probably could but people might notice my boobs jiggling.

18. Do you think things will change in the next 3 months? How?  The pessimist in me, wants to say things are going to get seriously worse in the next three months but ultimately it will be all for the better in the long run. (we are filing for bankruptcy)

19. Do you believe that you never know what you got until you lose it?  Well, I believe if you are smart you will realize this BEFORE you lose it and hold onto it any way you can.

20. Do you have a friend of the opposite sex you can talk to?  No.  Actually I have far too many people of the opposite sex around me.  I need me some more GIRLFRIENDS is what I need.

That is the THEME of the week.  Bet you didn't know my week had a theme.  Well it DOES, and that is it.

I did get my house cleaned.  (toilets even) YAY.
I did get laundry almost done.  Double YAY.
I did go through paperwork and sort a boatload of clothes (donate, keep, put into rotation).
I did get to hit the mall with my youngest and she was adorable the entire time (let's just say she handled no extremely well and we actually were able to have FUN.)

We are going over finances.  Boo.

But overall?  Not a bad day.

To My Darling Husband~
A poem for you on our 18 year anniversary:
Always attracted to each other;
Knowing smiles mixed with laughter
Blonde hair, cut short
Remember when I first met your mother?
Fun times, fun friends,
Never knowing what is next,
Moving Day with a pick-up truck.
Wanting the days to never end.
A secret engagement,
A beautiful private ceremony.
Spur of the moment ideas,
Going along for a wild ride.
Finding a big house,
Having faith in you,
Lots of good memories, building
To the arrival of our babies.
Beautiful, tiny.
Caring and Protective,
A Smart Man with a big heart
wrapped around little fingers
Difficulties, alcohol, pain.
Car accidents,
From the bad,
Comes the good.
Finding new ways
To reconnect.
And moving on.
Vacations with scenic views
New ideas, new jobs
Soul searching and
Adding another little one to the fold.
Bad news. Bad news.
Enough with the bad news..
Treading water, overwhelming feelings.
Doors closed tight
Reaching deep.
Believing and trusting.
Unsure, depression
Trying to see the light.
Hoping the next chapter.
Gives direction.
For our future, together.
Stronger. Tighter.
And an Irish Blessing (even though neither of us is Irish)
"May you have the hindsight to know where you've been.  The foresight to know where you are going. And the insight to know when you have gone too far."
Happy Anniversary Baby,

When It Rains, The Dike Breaks Completely

The long awaited verdict is in.  It consists of two herniated disks and a spine impingement to my man's back.  I cannot tell how how heartbreaking that news is to us.  It is beyond difficult to watch someone you love deeply, wince just to breathe.  And even after a cocktail of painkillers there is still heavy sighing and uncomfortable shifting around.
I am worried about so many things.  I can't even put them into words (as my eyes well with tears, again and again and again).
We will get through this.
I can handle it.
~cue the depression, waiting in the wings to make it's arrival!~

No evening work tonight.  I should be happy, but I am not.  Yesterday's stomach pit has turned into an avacado, festered with maggots.
And I might have a food allergy.
Why not right?  Life couldn't possible suck enough already. No more yummy bready carbs for me either.  Take that!
My day was spent dodging a tiny fly at work.  He landed on me at least 10,345 times (I am not making that number up, you in back HUSH).  It is the equivalent of a slow road to instanity.  Four tiny legs at a time.  At one point there were two fly swatters in the office but after searching vigilantly, I could not find either.  WTH?
That little sucka is lucky or he'd be so dead by now.

Wearing Thin

I can't even write a decent post today.  My day has just been total crap.
This morning I was greeted at work by a brand new employee (my job is to process them and their paperwork, of which, I like to be prepared.)  Surprise!  (P.S.  I hate surprises!) Sorry, Mr. Manager if I had some 'tude this morning.  I can't tell you this to your face but I BEYOND hate my job these days, so no it's "not you" it's me.  M'kay?
I survived.  Barely.

I have a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.  That is never a good sign.

Bad Kareoke

Tonight marks the first outdoor show since the spraying of the mosquitos.

There was no band tonight.  Because I am having such a craptacular week over here at casa-de-mig's I forgot to follow up with the band ... say on Monday ... and Tuesday ...

So it was Wednesday when I followed up.  And found out that the "band" though ALL the shows were canceled.  Yeah.  So ... ummm .... that was fun.  Scrambling to find some sort of replacement.

Which I did (so Yay!) but it was a guy that did Karaoke.  The crowd was tiny (haha!) and I was embarassed.  BUT ... my youngest?

Had the best time.

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

I keep asking myself that question, today, over and over.  Why is my life so hard.

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Buh-Bye, Buh-Bye Now

Took my MIL and Niece to the bus so they could ride it to the airport.

My house guests have left the building people.

I can't even put into words, how sad happy I am.  Ahem.

Always a Tough Day

I think Monday's are seriously evil.  Nothing every goes smoothly and my life always sucks on a Monday.

Today was no different.  My morning started with my oversleeping (Hey, I'm not blaming Monday for this, alright, Monday gets enough blame from me) or more like hitting snooze once too much.  I scrambled to get my up, showered, dressed, knowing in the back of my mind two things were definite today ... 1) my man needed to see a doctor for his back that he threw out on Sunday and 2) there was not going to be enough coverage in the office for me to be gone long.  I managed to not wake the house guests who slept fitfully as I raced the kitchen like a lunatic.  Walking my youngest up at the last five minutes only to dress her and sit her on the potty.

I got in the car to find it on "E", banged my head on the steering wheel a few times, and the song on the radio was the beginning of "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys.

Send Help!

I am two days into this whole visit and I cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel.

What I am seeing is myself picking up after two extra people and I find that incredibly annoying.

Just saying.

It's In What He Didn't Say ....

Almost four years ago now, my Boss was reading my blog and I had no idea.  He gave himself away when I wrote a nasty post about him (~waves to Boss~) and he called me out on it.  Read it back to me, line by line, replying to each comment.  I deleted that blog.  He held it over my head that he had a copy and when he realized I was no threat to him (frankly, I am no threat to anybody, I'm not that kind of girl) he gave it back and we moved on.  I have never said a word to him about it since and he doesn't bring it up either.

Well I think he would like me to think he moved on too.  But part of me senses that he still searches for me, I can't explain it, it's just a feeling.  (which might have to do with what seems like the several times a day he leans back in his chair and stares in my direction, trying to pry himself into my brain, while I ignore him and do my work)  He has said things over the past year or two about knowing that I block my profile so that you can't see what blogs I write on (he is totally right on that and the reason is because I know he is still looking)  I don't elaborate on what he is talking about and I always change the subject.

He did say to me, shortly after the whole blog-blow-up that he wished he was still reading it because then, at least, he knew where my head was at.  That comment still makes me laugh, even today, because you could know me in real life and read my blog, AND I don't even know where my head is at. Come on now really ...

I am meticulous at work about covering my tracks.  I never open or read my blog there.  I don't do posts from my desk like I used to and so there is no trail to find me there.  I also check my stats more frequently than back then and I check to see if anyone close is watching.  (they are not, although I might freak myself out with supercool JennyJ but she always says DUH its me and I calm down)  I even delete my history on my web browser twice a day (once before I got to lunch and once before I head home)

I EVEN check my Boss's computer because he often forgets to clear his history but I find nothing that indicates he is looking.

So I stop thinking about it ... and then he says something like this ... to me ... today ....

He was talking about computer monitors and how some people like theirs close to their keyboard and some people like theirs tilted up ... and then he said this ....

"I was on your computer the other day and the monitor tilts down and I can't stand that."

He said it in the middle of a conversation and people were coming into our office and the phone was ringing but I happen to catch that fleeting look on his face ....

The ~ohshitshesgoingtorealizeIwaslookingforherblog~ look.

And I continued on with my work, thinking in my head .... you bastard ....

The Eagles Have Landed

It's day #1 of my MIL's visit.  Now don't get me wrong here, I love her dearly.  She has truly been nothing but kind and supportive and extra loving to my kids, her grandkids.  (who cares that she drinks an entire bottle of wine in one evening, each night she is here, RIGHT?)

But even the tidiest house guest would be a challenge for me.  And tidy, is not what she is, nor my Niece who came with her, are.  I'm in a house of slobs people.  Help.

I'm trying to suck it up and would appreciate it if you all out in blogland would send me some Zen.

Monday's Bite

I had a message in my Voice Mail at work this morning.  It was left for me at 1:30 AM.

It was to let me know that by 8:30 AM this morning I would be preparing and assisting in the completion of proper paperwork for minors to be employed by us.

Minor = Under the age of 18.

At 8:30 AM the first parent came in and I had to send her away because I was totally confused as to what the process needed to be.

My Boss's attitude regarding this?

"They will be working on Tuesday morning or we will be out of business."

Sunday Stealing: 28 Question MeMe

1. Was your dad named after anyone?  He was named after his dad.  My maiden last name is the Italian word for garden.  I kid you not.

2. What do you think is the minimal age to get married?  I seriously wanted to get married as soon as I graduated High School but the guy I was dating at the time thought it was crazy.  Course if we had I wouldn't be here, so I guess it's a good thing we didn't.

3. What’s the longest time that you‘ve been involved with the same person?  Twenty years and counting.

4. What actor/actress do you consider hot at the moment?  Robert Downey Jr. ... Sherlock Holmes anyone?

5. What is you favorite album by a band?  Journey's Separate Ways album will always be a favorite.

6. What is your favorite album by an individual artist?  I guess I can say Michael Jackson's thriller album was a favorite.  Bon Jovi too.

7. What is something that you‘d rather be a bit dirty?  Absolutely nothing, I'm a total neat freak.

8. What was the last TV show that you watched?  Cake Boss.  I am really into decorating cakes (even though I suck at it) and love to watch all the creative things those guys do.

9. How many people have you met from the blogosphere? Who are they?  I know one in real life and there are at least two I'd love to meet in person someday.  I don't have to name them, they know who they are.

10. What's your philosophy on life?  It's to short.  Don't hold grudges and this too shall pass.

11. Do you think prescription drugs are over prescribed?  I don't.  I need more.  HAHA.

12. Would you keep a secret from me if you thought it was in my best interest?  It would depend totally on what the secret was.  AND I really suck at keeping secrets.

13. What is your favorite memory in the last year?  Why is it the bad memories are the easiest ones to remember.  I know it wasn't my birthday.  I'd say Christmas Eve or Day.  Those are really the most fun.

14. What is your favorite guilty pleasure?  Smut Books.  Okay, that's what I call ROMANCE NOVELS.  Get your minds out of the gutter people, sheesh.  I'm big into historical romances.  They have to either be Vikings or have to do with London's "Ton" Society.  Aren't you glad you asked?

15. Tell me one odd/interesting fact about you:  I have ADD cleaning.  I am totally obsessed with having everything tidy and smelling good.

16. You can have three wishes (for yourself, so forget all the 'world peace etc' malarky) - what are they?  Money, money and money.  This is not because I am greedy.  We really do need it that badly.

17. Who would you want to get together with and make a cake?  My girls.  They like baking and I enjoy having their help (even if it is extra messy when they are there)

18. Which country is your spiritual home?  Japan.  (I don't know why, that just came to me)

19. What is your big weakness?  Chocolate.  It has an evil hold on me.

20. Do you think Judd Corizan is a good person?  I sure do.  I enjoy his blog.  ;-)

21. What was your best/favorite subject at school?  Gym.  I had a four year medical note and never took it.  (p.s. I hated school)

22. Describe your accent:  I'm from the Boston area, so, let's just leave it at that.

23. If you could change anything about yourself, would you?  Nope.  I got a good thing going over here.

24. What do you wear to sleep?  T-shirt and sometimes shorts.

25. What is your favorite casual outfit to wear?  T-shirt, jeans and sneakers.  I love being casual.

26. Do you use cigarettes or alcohol?  I quit smoking Marlboro Lights twenty years ago.  Go me.  And I quit drinking when my husband did, about twelve years ago now.  It's a good thing.

27. If I only had one day to live, what would we do together? (If you have no idea, just say something crazy, it'll entertain me!)  Drive to the ocean in a convertible for an awesome day tanning, shopping and eating.

28. Rate the memes that you play generally. Use any scale or just in order,  This is the only one I participate in.
