Unsure

I received this email today ... read it ... go ahead ... I'll wait.

"Hello Members, I am sorry to say that I received very little feedback for nominations for the 2010 officers. I did not receive any emails from anyone nominate themselves. If we do not have anyone willing to volunteer to be officers for next year, the future of the club is in jeopardy. Tuesday evening at the business meeting, we discussed dissolving the Big Pond Mother's Club (totally fake name). The present officers discussed this possibility with heavy hearts. The current officers have been officers, in one respect or another, for more than one year already and would like to take a break.

It has also become a bit difficult for the craft fair committee (consisting of two officers) to do everything entailed with planning the craft fair. Our membership has dwindled over the past few years, and less people are volunteering to help out with this endeavor. Rosanne is going to do the signs for us. Lisa is again graciously taking on the toy drive. We are nervous we won’t have enough volunteered hours to cover the craft fair. Because of this, we are no longer doing the traditional food table. This year’s table is called the snack table and will be combined with the pie and bread table. We will serve water, Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, soda, bagels, muffins, pastries, donuts, fruit, and bag chips. The table will be essentially "self-serve.” We will only need two people at a time to man this table. We will no longer be serving crafter lunches. A letter will be going out to the crafters that due to our reduced membership and donations for the food table; we are unable to provide this service any longer.

If we close the club, the philanthropic support we offer to the towns with scholarships funded by the yard sale and the toy drive funded by the craft fair will affect our community.

PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO CONSIDER BEING AN OFFICER.

If you have any ideas to increase participation with our current members or ways to increase membership, please call or email me as soon as possible. If you feel changes need to be made, being an officer is the best way to make those changes happen. The matter of dissolving the Big Pond Mothers’ Club is a decision to be made by its members. If there are no officers to run the club next year, the current officers will have no other choice than to do so.

Please think about why YOU joined the BIG POND Mothers' Club."

I feel so conflicted about this. On the one hand, times have changed and perhaps ending it is best. On the other hand, times have changed, lets change with it.
