I am a terrible liar. While this is probably a very good thing, it's really not, when you've been asked to go with the flow ... to seem like everyone else ....
You see, it was all going along just fine until I actually had to make like I was "doing it too". You asked me how it went.
Then the needle scratched the record.
Then I turned twelve shades of red.
Then I stumbled.
While I sort of pulled it back together and turned the table enough to seem like I knew what I was talking about, it was too late.
By doing what I was asked to do, I compromised something that was far more important then going along with it. I blew away the respect you had for me.
Now I regret the whole business.
And when my boss comes back, I hope he'll do the right thing and tell the truth for me.
But it's too late.
The damage is done.
